The Atelier is located at The Plant in Pittsboro, NC.  This is where we do the tie-dye, screen printing, and embroidery.

Our tiny shop serves as the creative hub of Hempsmith. Built with local cedar and reclaimed materials.

 Our Neighbors

The local economy down Lorax Lane is robust. We are proud to call it home. Meet some of our visionary neighbors making change.

  • Copeland Springs Farm and Kitchen

Kristin Bulpitt runs Copeland Springs Farm & Kitchen, a no-till, sustainable farm, and vegetarian kitchen just across the street from The Hempsmith. Kristin has won best vegetarian restaurant in Chatham County too many times to count, so stop by for a Bad Woman Bowl, a home made quiche, or a lavender lemon tart and you’ll see why.

  • Fair Game Beverages

Fair Game is next door to The Hempsmith so when we’re busy tie dying or screen printing we can step over and get a local NC brew or even a small batch bourbon distilled right on site.

  • Starrlight Meadery

Starrlight Meadery has been with us since the start. They are a national award-winning meadery that creates a wide variety of honey-based brews that pull from medieval recipes to create their delicious libations. This makes The Plant one of the largest Mead Fests in the country, and as a company bringing back an ancient tradition they are the perfect neighbor for The Hempsmith.

 Building The Atelier

Hempsmith started in 2016 and as the brand started to take off we decided Hempsmith needed a home. So we set out to build The Atelier, aka Hempsmith Headquarters, at The Plant in Pittsboro, NC. We used rough cut cedar planks from a local mill and reclaimed materials from a tobacco barn and a biodiesel plant. And on New Year’s Eve of 2019 the hub of all Hempsmith’s creativity, The Atelier officially opened its doors.
